Todays question from the girls over at YA Highway is:

The house is on fire and you’ve only got time to grab five things. What are they?

I already know I’m going to embarrass myself on this one, so here it goes. The very first thing I would probably grab is my baby blanket. Yeah, I still have it. My Aunt on my Father’s side made it for my older sister, but I stole it. I mean, who else could say they took their first baby blanket from someone? The next thing I would probably grab is my box of scrap-booking stuff, along with my notebook that has all of my notes for all of my stories, including the first draft of my Azreal story. Don’t want to risk losing all of my hard work, especially now that my laptop is officially kaput. Now what else would I take? Probably my belly dancing stuff next, like my zills and costumes…or my zills and cane…most likely my zills and belly dance costumes because costumes are expensive. I don’t want to  start again from scratch. It was hard enough acquiring what I do have.

At least I know I’ll have an easier time getting out of a fire than my boyfriend. He’d be stuck trying to choose between his weapons and numerous gaming consoles, including his computer.

So what would you grab if your house was on fire?

It’s Wednesday which means it’s time for another road trip Wednesday hosted by the girls over at YAHighway. Today’s question is:

How do you reward yourself when you meet your writing goals?

I actually have no good answer for this. I don’t reward myself with a certain amount of television, ice-cream, or chocolate. I kind of do what I do with working out, bask in the satisfaction of completing the task by doing absolutely nothing. This may explain why I don’t finish projects faster, but I think that has more to do with me being overly critical of myself and writing ability. Maybe I could develop an award system. Maybe, every time I meet a goal, I could…take the next work day off and spend it doing whatever I wanted. Perhaps I’ll take a hike in the mountains 30 minutes from my house, or I could go lounge on the beach 45 minutes away. Or, I could go to the Zoo since I do have a year pass and spend the day hanging out with my favorite animal, the tigers, alongside my favorite niece and nephew. I don’t know. There are so many options and only one day to do them. This is another reason why I may have problems hitting my goals. I’ve never been the greatest decision maker. Even deciding where to eat is a never ending back and forth with me and myself. Sometimes I want everything and sometimes nothing sounds good. I think my no award system works pretty well for me. Sometimes nothing is the best thing.

What about you? How do you reward yourself when you meet a goal?

Unfortunately my laptop is still not charging and it’s $45 to get it diagnosed, so until I get it down to the computer guy, my pencil will remained lost. That’s okay though, I’m still finishing up the pictures to my children’s book. Hopefully when I finish I’ll know what’s wrong with my computer. Til then I hope you all find your pencils.

Road trip Wednesday is a blog carnival hosted by the lovely ladies over at YA Highway. Today’s question is:

If you got to choose a celebrity narrator for the audio book of your WIP or your favorite novel, who would it be and why?

I honestly have no idea. My main WIP is about the Angel of Death who is kind of the dark and brooding sort, so I might have to go with….Robby Benson. For those of you who may not be familiar with Benson he is the voice of the Beast in Disney’s version of Beauty and the Beast. His portrayal of the beast, through voice alone, really captures the overall tone I’d like to set for my story. I can imagine Azreal speaking in a deep low growl, full of self-loathing and despair, while he asserts his dominance over others. I believe Benson would be able to take the complexities of the story and character and bring them to life through his voice alone.

My other WIP, which I’ve titled Love, Death and Other Stuff, is a YA collection of poems sprinkled through a single story about a seventeen year old girl transitioning from high school to the real world. If I had to choose a celebrity to narrate this WIP, I would probably choose…Anne Hathaway who has surprised me with her diversity as an actress. The innocence in Anne’s voice, coupled with her age and maturity would bring a nice balance to my WIP. Overall I think she would do an excellent job, even though I wasn’t as meticulous in choosing her as I was in choosing Benson.

Don’t tell my WIP’s but I do have a favorite. Shhh. 🙂

Now I’m off to find my pencil. Unfortunately I still haven’t figured out how to get my WIP’s to write themselves so I need to find it in order to get anything done.

Hope everyone has a great day and let me know, which celebrity would narrate your WIP?

It’s Wednesday which means it’s time for another Road Trip Wednesday hosted by the girls over at YA Highway. This weeks topic is:

Compare your first kiss with your favorite characters first kiss?

Okay, so since my fave character is Eeyore (which, btw, if you have any extra Eeyore related paraphernalia feel free to send it my way 😉  ) I’m just going to compare my first kiss with Ron and Hermoine. Ron and Hermoine’s first kiss had everything I imagined would be mine. It was filled with genuine feelings that had been built up through the years (each book) and was very sweet. Pretty much it was what I had imagined a first kiss should be.

Now, let’s rewind to my first kiss. I was a shy fourteen-year-old freshman who had been dating her first boyfriend for about a month.  I had never kissed anyone before and I was terrified at the idea, especially since I had built up what a first kiss should be over the years. Now, my then boyfriend really did try. And, if I wasn’t well me, it probably would have been the perfect first kiss, but unfortunately I am me.

The mood was set perfectly, it was Homecoming, my dress was beautiful and we had fun dancing in the gym. Toward the middle of the evening, we went for a walk outside so we could be alone. We found a bench and looked at the stars together and then…then he kissed me and I said “Ewww.” Not exactly the warm bubbly feeling I had when Ron and Hermoine smooched. My boyfriend was obviously hurt, but for some strange reason didn’t break up with me. To this day I think I’m the only girl who has ever said “Ewww” during her first kiss.

What was your first kiss like? let me know in the comments below and I’ll be back with news on my 100 followers contest, which I haven’t forgotten about, once I find my pencil. It’s been a little MIA on me since I’ve been searching for a new job. Good news though I think I’ve found one. 🙂 Hope you all have a great day and get your pencil’s moving.

Wow! It feels like forever since I did one of these. This RTP, hosted by the ladies over at yahighway, asks us to:

Invent your own mythological creature!

My mythological creature has a silly name.  I call it a Water Woo, which fits its whimsical nature. Water Woos are frog-like creatures with human-like hands and hair. They live in large bodies of water, i.e. oceans and lakes and maintain an aristocratical form of government.   While they are silly and light-hearted, and somewhat mischievous, Water Woos possess great power and often mislead their opponents into underestimating them.

So that is my mythological creature. It would be more complete if I had actually created a myth to encompass them, but I have not done that yet. I guess it will have to wait for another day.

So tell me, what’s your mythological creature like?

Now it’s back to work until my next post. I hope everybody finds their pencil in meantime. Hopefully I will. ;p

It’s another Road Trip Wednesday hosted by the ladies over at YA Highway. Todays’ question is:

If you could live within the universe of one book, which would you choose?

Can someone say Harry Potter?  I know, me and millions of other people.  But I chose to be honest, and I’ve wanted to join this universe since I was twelve and not just for the magic, but for the characters and the world.  How cool would it have been to hang out with the Weasley twins, or to fly a broom stick? I’m afraid of heights so the broom stick flying probably wouldn’t have gone over so well for me, but still F*ckin awesome. See it was so awesome an expletive was the only way to explain the awesomeness.  That’s how you know it’s awesome.  And I already know Professor Lupin so would have been my teacher crush. (Yes I had those.  One on my English teacher and the other on my math. Did I mention I was a nerd in high school?)

Anyway, that is the world I would choose.  Now if we were including manga, which is just as awesome, my answer may be different.  I just may have to step into Naruto’s world.  I mean I do like to kick some A** every now and again. That’s why my b/f is a MMA fighter, so he can handle my resengan when I throw down.  Yeah that’s right, I can form swirling balls of massive energy just with my hands. Are you scared now?

And now that I’ve exposed entirely too much of myself, I’m going to go find my pencil, while you tell me which universe you’d choose in the comments below.

Road Trip Wednesday is a blog chain hosted by the girls over at YA Highway.  Today’s topic is:

Give a blurb for your favorite book or one of your own!

Well, since I’ve been working on trying to blurb my WIP, I guess I’ll post what I’ve got for everyone to see.  So far the tentative title for my WIP is THE LOST SOUL…but that may change.  So without further ado, here is my blurb.

Forced into exile, Azreal The Angel of Death, must decide between saving the first soul he ever lost or redemption for his crimes. Only one being stands in the way of his goal. A heartbroken vampire too stubborn to let go of her humanity and the only one who understands what it’s like to take a human life. Torn between what he wants and what is right, Azreal must make a decision or risk losing it all.

It sounds cheesy I know, but it’s better than what I had before.  🙂

Now it’s your turn to leave me a blurb of your fave book or your own WIP in the comments.  I shared with you, it’s only right you share with me.

I guess I’m off to find my pencil…maybe one day it will stay put for a change.

So the topic the girls over at YA Highway chose for this week:

What Movie Do You Wish Had Been A Book First?(And Who Should Have Written It?)

So  I have two choices for this:

Shakespeare-In-Love-Delantera-Vcd.jpg Shakespeare In Love

Shakespeare in Love because it’s the best romantic comedy ever.  It’s one of the few movies I fell in love with as an early teen and still love today.  Not counting nostalgia.  And who else would I want to write it but Will Shakespeare himself.  Art thou surprised? Lol. Okay now that was lame. Moving on.

And keeping in the mood of this wonderful month I give you White Christmas.

And who would write it?  I don’t know…maybe Irving Berlin. ;p

So those are the movies I wish had been books first and the people I would like to have written them. Now tell me, what movie do wish had been a book first?

While I go to find my pencil, you should submit a poem or short story to be featured on my blog.  just contact me at ejeglin@yahoo.com.

This Week’s Topic from YA Highway:

“The winds in Washokey make people go crazy.”
Post on your own blog about a time you did something completely crazy!

Okay, a time I did something completely crazy….chirp…chirp….chirp…does anybody else hear the cricket in here?

Alright, so I may not be as boring as I would like you to think, but since this is a blog written by someone who would like to sell in the small children to YA market, I don’t really want to share some of the more crazy things I may have done…which may or may not have fallen within the confines of the law.  Did I happen to mention my father is an attorney? ;p

Let’s see…I would have to say 18 was probably the craziest time in my life.  That year I videotaped my BF as she got her first tattoo, I went to a car show with my friend…I think I’ll just call her V, where she spent the night dragging me into photos of not only her, but gorgeous car models, V never understood that not everybody was as beautiful as her, and then she promptly got up on stage, made out with three other girls, while guys who I didn’t know thought it was okay to touch me b/c I was her friend.  FYI, it was not.

V also took me to my first strip club that year, so she could compete in an amateur’s night to win money for a prom dress.  We made an interesting team, her all make-upfied and half-dressed, and me with my hair thrown into a messy bun, wearing overalls and a sweater and no make-up.  And yet, somehow, I couldn’t help feeling not covered up enough.  I spent the majority of that evening talking to strippers who really liked to brush my leg and shoulder when they talked.  I discovered if I asked them how stripping made them feel, they’d leave me alone, so I got to sit in the back next to the bouncer all by myself.

Last but not least, running from the police when I went with my brothers and the guy I was so into at the time to watch people drift cars.  It was sad though when the guy crashed his mom’s three-month old Spider.  He burst into tears and to be honest, I would’ve too.

So there you have it, some of the wildest things I’ve ever done.  See I told ya I was boring.  Too bad I couldn’t have told you about the time my friend got pulled over and everybody stashed the … under me so the officer wouldn’t find it, but those are for another day.

Now, my pencil has some pretty wild stories….if I could only find it….

It’s your turn to share.  Let me know some of your wildest and craziest moments.

And remember if you want to share a short story or poem with me and the rest of the blog, please send it to ejgelin@yahoo.com.
